A touch of sparkle...

It was a rainy afternoon and I was feeling a bit creative and I came up with these funky disco/party inspired nails!! :) They would be great for a night out, I'd even wear them in the daytime!
They were so easy to do...

To recreate this you will need...
  • Glitter/sequins
  • Glittery eyeshadow(optional)
  • Clear nail varnish
1. First, clean your nails with some nail polish remover to remove all traces of old nail varnish etc.
2. Next apply some clear nail polish to the tips of the nails(as if you were doing a french manicure..). Only do a couple of nails at a time in case they dry.
3. Next sprinkle some glitter/sequins onto a piece of paper (to avoid a mess!) with some glittery eyeshadow (optional), I did this because the glitter was quite large so it left some little gaps on my nails, the eyeshadow fills them in!
4. Then dab your fingertip in the glitter and pat it on to the tips. You can layer it up as much as you like, applying more nail polish.
5. Finally cover the whole nail with 2 coats of clear nail polish to seal the glitter in!

I think it's time to hit the dancefloor! :)

"What is my skin type?"

Many people don't know what skin type they have which can make choosing products or treatments difficult. It is important to know what skin type you have so that you can get the best results from your products and so they can do the job they are made for. A lot of people assume they are a certain skin type without really knowing what to look for...
If you have a facial treatment at a salon/spa the therapist would most probably provide a skin analysis so that you can get the best out of your treatment, so it is a job idea to ask after the treatment, for future reference. However, skin types can change depending on the season e.g. dry-winter or oily-summer, for example.

So to know what to look for I have let you know about the characteristics of each skin type to make it much easier for you to identify what you are...

Normal
This is very rare and is seen as the 'ideal' skin type
  • Clear and fresh
  • Fine, even texture
  • Even colouring
  • Does not look neither dry or oily
  • Very rare breakouts
Dry/ Dehydrated
Lacks either/both sebum or moisture
  • Dull complexion
  • Small,tight pores
  • Tight feeling after washing
  • Often red and blotchy
  • Flaky skin
  • Uneven pigmentation
  • Fine lines/premature wrinkles
  • Prone to allergies
  • No spots
  • Dilated or broken capillaries

Oily
Too much sebum/moisture

  • Looks shiny, even soon after washing
  • Large pores
  • Spots/blackheads often present
  • Coarse texture
  • Good skin tone
Combination
The most common skin type. Two or more skin types may be present, classic t-zone(part oily/part dry)

  • Oily areas are usually the forehead, nose and chin
  • Drier areas usually cheeks and eye area
  • Blemishes may be present in t-zone
  • Flaky skin could be present on cheeks
  • Broken capillaries may also be found on cheeks
Sensitive

  • Often accompanies dry skin
  • High colouring may be visible
  • Broken capillaries
  • Feels warm
  • Uncomfortable/itchy/irritation
I hope this helps if you were unsure as to what to look for and makes it easier for you to find products to suit your skin type! :)

The girl with the polka dot nails...

These are my mum's nails that I painted a little while ago, I was quite proud of them! :) I think they look very cute!!

I love bring creative with my nail painting!
If you would like to recreate these very easy and simple nails you will need...
(you can use whatever colours you want!)

  • Base coat
  • Red nail polish
  • White nail-art pen/white nail polish and orange stick
  • Flower nail decorations
  • Top coat
  1. First apply a base coat to your nails to prevent staining and help the nail polish to last
  2. Next apply a red nail polish, I used Creative Nail Polish- Moroccan Ruby
  3. Then apply a second coat
  4. Next using a white nail art pen, Star Nails Nail Art Pen- White or orange stick dipped in a white nail polish dot the polish evenly on each nail to create polka dots, it's best to do this once you base colour is dry to prevent it running.
  5. To finish the look I applied some pretty flower decorations to the big toes! :)
  6. Finally add a topcoat to make them last.
Then get out those sandals!! (Before it's too late!)

I Love...Avon Ultra Colour Rich Cool Bliss Lipstick- Rose Chill

I bought this lipstick when looking through my last representative brochure, in the clearance section and at £2 I thought I would give it a try as the colour looked lovely and I was looking for a good everyday lipstick that was pretty and gave me some colour but was fairly subtle...

This is my favourite lipstick at the moment! I wear it everyday, as I have fair skin I was looking for a colour that wouldn't look to harsh or make me look overdone and that would suit my complexion. This colour does that perfectly. I is a very pretty peachy-rose colour with a slight shimmer and it suits any sort of eye make-up. I have also worn this on night's out too!

Unfortunately, I think this lipstick has been discontinued, which is a real shame, however I did find it on good old eBay! :)

I Love...Secret Fantasy EDT spray from Avon

I thought I'd let you know about my new perfume that I recently purchased from Avon. I am an Avon representative and really enjoy buying products from the brochures myself!! I am addicted...Which could be why I don't come out with so much money... However, I am a huge fan of the products and love to try then out so I can recommend them to my friends and family.

A few weeks ago I ran out of my usual perfume Ghost Sweetheart and as much as I love it, I was a bit short of money so thought I would try a new, cheaper one. Although I couldn't smell it this perfume, I was tempted by the price in my 'Hello Tommorow' representative brochure, at £4.60!! (bargain!) and also the great reviews from customers and representatives... This perfume, in a usual brochure would cost £11!

This has the most gorgeous fruity smell, perfect for summer (or what we have of it...!) I think it is more suitable for teenagers, young adults, in there 20's, as it has quite a young scent. It also has a really cute key charm that acts as a lock/lid so that you can stop your perfume from spraying itself in your bag!

I will definitely but this perfume again and it puts be is a happy mood as soon as I spray it and it is really uplifting :) Must-buy!

Secret Fantasy EDT Spray

But don't worry if you don't have a representative as you can buy this online at http://avonshop.co.uk/product/fragrance/perfume/secret-fantasy-edt-spray.html

Nail Colour Of The Week!

As part of my blog each week I will show what nail colour(s!) I am wearing, as I am always changing the colour! I think I could possibly call myself a nail varnish addict!!

My nail polish this week...

This polish is from Marks and Spencer, now I think this was from a gift set a long time ago, so I'm not sure how much it is or if they still sell it unfortunately, however I wanted to share it with you because I think the colour is lovely, i'm sure you can get a similar one else wear! It is a pinky-purple with a slightly metallic sheen. I have had it for donkey's years and it still hasn't gone sticky! I LOVE IT!! :)

Loreal Infallible Foundation- Brush V Bottle..

Loreal Infallible foundation, is my absolute favourite foundation, I have tried so many over the years, to find the one that's just right for me. Unfortunately as I am so pale it was a real struggle to find a foundation that wasn't too dark or made me look like an orange!! I found that this foundation was just right. As I recently converted to the brush instead of the bottle I thought I would compare both and let you know what I thought..

So, for probably over a 2 years now I have used the Loreal Infallible Foundation 30ml ( 015 Porcelain) £12.29 bottle.

They say that this is meant to last up to 16 hours, fights the signs of make-up meltdown, anti-transfer, combat signs of fatigue and humidity and provide all day radiance. Now, I've found that this has lasted all day, however I tend to have quite an oily t-zone and this product says that it stops shine and unfortunately for me I found that it didn't provide this. On the other hand this foundation provides great coverage which you can build up and it is the perfect colour for me. I found from experience that this foundation isn't great for topping up throughout the day as it often looks more obvious if you do this, as once you have first applied it it dries and sort of sets, so if your someone you likes to top up then you are best to pop some powder on top instead. I've never had a problem with this foundation, hence why I have used it for so long! The bottle has never been a problem for me as I tend to like to put my foundation on with my fingers anyway, you could always use this with a foundation brush or sponge if you prefer. This bottle is a lovely size and fits perfectley in my make-up bag, it is glass so do be careful! however I've never broken one!! :) Once you can't get anymore foundation out of the pump it is a good idea to run the seal under a hot tap to release it and you will find that there if often a lot more in the bottom! Another upside to this foundation is that you don't need a lot, so it lasts me for months!!

V

Now a couple of weeks ago I needed a new bottle and came across the Loreal Infallible Brush 25ml £12.99
when I was shopping in Superdrug and thought I would give it a try.

I was a bit conscious as I wasn't sure it would live up to my usual bottle. But I haven't been disappointed. This foundation is said to last for up to 24 hours instead of 16 and is said to have a fine-matte finish. I have found this foundation does feel different to the other it is finer and lighter, I guess it does have a slightly matte finish, it doesn't really make much different shine wise. It looks very natural and blends in well. Now you might wonder what I thought of the brush as I don't tend to use them. To release the foundation you twist the top and the foundation comes out of the brush. It is very quick and easy to apply and I haven't had any problems with it, however I found that you do need to run your fingers gently over the top as the brush sometimess leaves slight brush marks. I have used it for about 2 weeks now and it seems as if more has gone than the bottle would have, also it is 5ml smaller. I am yet to finish the bottle but for the price I hope that it lasts as long as my usual. The brush is also very soft and feels lovely on your skin which is a bonus.

I would probably say that the bottle is still my favourite as the consistency feels slightly different to the one in the brush, you could use it with a foundation brush anyway, however the brush does provide more make-up bag space, which we all need!
 Phew...
